RAINCO
Challenging herself from moving to new product category Lonali, joined as a design consultant for Rainco in 2016. Rainco is an umbrella manufacturing, marketing and distribution company that has continued to evolve as an innovative design brand. Lonali joined Rainco initially to develop an accessory collection and later overlooked the product portfolio of umbrellas in design, branding and development. During the time of 2017 and 2018 Rainco presented its rainwear collection at Mercedes Benz Fashion Week in-collaboration with House of Lonali. Lonali was a part of the team that led the rebranding process that aligned with their mission of creating and delivering products of the highest value responsibly. This partnership or rather the friendship has definitely been valued experience and continued to support design and sustainable led initiatives.
Women Go Beyond by MAS Holdings
Launched in 2003, Women Go Beyond aims to strengthen gender equality and enhance women’s empowerment at MAS Holdings; it also promotes their entrepreneurial skills and livelihood development. Lonali has been an active resource person for both ‘Abhinandani and Abhimani’ Programs since 2018. She curates and facilitates the annual entrepreneurial development program while she closely mentors 30-50 participant entrepreneurs during a period of 3 to 6 months. The programs focus on topics such as design, sustainability, marketing, retail, finance and packaging as well. The employees at MAS Holdings who also play a dual role as entrepreneurs are more confident and will see the world in a more sophisticated perspective as they go through the specially designed programs.
STHRI by Selyn
STHRI by Selyn is a culmination of 25 years of ethical enterprise empowering a network of women and rural communities in Sri Lanka. Built on Selyn's strong Fair Trade roots, this ethical fashion collective features a range of everyday wear, curating collaborations with like-minded fashion designers and social brands. Combining fashion and social movement, STHRI brings to you empowered fashion for women by women.
House of Lonali collaborated with STHRI by Selyn in leading the design team for its fashion collection. As a premier sustainable brand, House of Lonali lead product development and designed the 19/20 ready to wear collection for STHRI. The textile developed was inspired by a traditional weaving technique called ‘pethampili’ while giving it a modern and a minimalistic outlook. Purchasing these products is twofold as unintentionally, the consumers promote sustainability as well as empowerment women and craftsmanship. More women will be represented and inspired as it's designed, made and worn by women.
