I think being transparent about our process is incredibly important because we want you to be aware of the passion, effort and skill that goes into creating every House of Lonali product that you purchase. In my opinion, we are not just in the business of making fashion and lifestyle products. We also play a key role in bridging the gap between sustainable makers and conscious and responsible wearers.

We make a conscious effort to keep our production process and value chain local so that we can make a positive impact on the communities we work in. Having a local and shorter process also helps us lower our carbon footprint, so that we have minimal environmental impact.

Step 1 - Recovering Waste

The initial stage of our process involves recovering fabric waste from the apparel manufacturing sector. Our extensive network of apparel factories, as well as individuals who resell fabric scraps provide the raw material that we work with.

Step 2 - Designing Lifestyle Products

Once the fabric waste is in our possession, we begin segregating it into collections based on texture and colour. Our team of talented designers have the exciting job of designing beautiful lifestyle products such as clothes, shoes, handbags and accessories, using the fabric waste as inspiration.

Our design ethos is based on circularity – the principle that focuses on the continual use of resources. Therefore, we make every effort to minimize waste in our production process and instead look at how our designs can give these resources a longer life span.

Step 3 - Manufacturing and Finishing

Once the designs have been sketched, our highly skilled team of seamstresses and craftspeople begin bringing each individual piece to life. We work with dedicated and brilliant artisans who have years of experience and expertise, as well as immense passion for what they do.

Step 4 - Packaging and Distribution

Once each product is carefully packaged and branded, using sustainable material, we place them at our retail partners, ready for you to purchase. We are mindful about eliminating single use plastics from our entire process. So, we use eco-friendly paper based sewing tags and bags as packaging. Our House of Lonali brand tab, which can be found on all our products, is hand carved by a local brass artisan. We use paper bags or reusable fabric bags when we distribute our products to retail partners.
